When is Duplex Moving right for you?

The main difficulty in duplex units is the internal staircase: many large pieces of furniture can enter the house through the private entrance but cannot be turned to move up to the bedroom level. Before the move, items from the upper and lower levels are inventoried separately; we compare the staircase width, landing depth, railings, and open space positions item-by-item to decide whether to dismantle or keep them on the same floor.

Residences with narrow or spiral internal staircases, or those adjacent to glass railings and chandeliers.

03

Families needing to reorganize floor usage and reallocate furniture across levels.

Service process

Duplex Moving process

01

Inventory by Level.

Note the current and new-location floor for each large item to identify those that must be moved via the internal staircase.

02

Internal Staircase Measurement Test.

Measure stair width, landings, clearance height, and railings; compare them against the dismantled dimensions of sofas, bed frames, and cabinets.

03

Layered Packing and Move-out.

Protect treads, walls, glass edges, and corners; move items to the unit exit floor by floor to avoid stacking goods at the stairwell at the same time.

04

Upper Level First, Then Common Areas.

Upon arrival, first handle large items that must pass through the internal stairs, then place items on the ground floor; complete specified assembly and clear the passages.

What affects your quote?

What affects your quote?

Internal Staircase Geometry.

Stair type, landings, clearance height, and railings determine if items can turn.

Volume Across Levels.

The actual quantity of large items and cartons requiring internal stair transit affects labor hours.

Dismantling Capability.

The structure of custom cabinets, electric furniture, and bed frames determines if dimensions can be reduced.

Fragile Fit-outs.

Glass railings, wooden treads, wall decorations, and chandeliers require corresponding protection and clearance.

Checklist

Prepare these details or photos before requesting a quote

  1. 1Photograph items separately by upper/lower level and indicate the target floor at the new residence.
  2. 2Measure the narrowest point of the internal stairs, landing depth, railing spacing, and minimum clearance height.
  3. 3Provide dimensions/models for large sofas, bed frames, cabinets, and fitness equipment.
  4. 4Remove stair decorations and point out the locations of glass railings or hanging chandeliers.
  5. 5Confirm which items can be dismantled and which must be handled by original manufacturer technicians.

Internal stairs cannot be used as a temporary storage area.

Steps, landings, and exits must be kept clear. Glass edges, hanging positions, and low-hanging lights must be pointed out in advance; if the on-site route is unsuitable, other assessed methods must be used.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

The sofa is on the upper level of the duplex; can it be moved directly down the internal stairs?

Must verify the sofa's dismantled dimensions, landing corners, and clearance height; if photos are insufficient, an on-site assessment may be needed.

Can glass railings be removed to let large items pass?

General relocation does not include dismantling fixed glass or structural parts; this should be assessed and restored by qualified contractors and requires property permission first.

Can a safe be moved up the internal stairs of the new home?

Requires weight, dimensions, stair structure, and the full route; moving methods will not be confirmed until weight-bearing and operational assessments are completed.

Understanding furniture dismantling/reassembly services.

Confirm whether large furniture can be dismantled, how to label parts, and reassembly at the new home.
